Material Research & Development
Jonal Laboratories has the expertise to formulate compounds that will be an integral part to your sealing solutions. We have worked with many elastomers such as:
- Urethane (castable, millable, foam)
- Natural rubber
We formulate and mix compounds to achieve unique solutions that balance technical requirements, such as material workability, cost considerations, and the longevity of key ingredients.
We can meet standard AMS, ASTM, and military specifications, or formulate specialty elastomers to meet specific requirements such as:
- Extreme temperature and pressure ranges
- Fluid or ozone resistance
- Vibration damping
- Thermal and/or Electrical resistance or conductivity
- EMI/RFI shielding
- Low friction
- Gas impermeability
Over the years, we have developed more than 5,000 compounds, demonstrating our commitment to creating the best unique solutions for your sealing requirements.
We have developed several fluorosilicone and fluorocarbon formulations that became the basis for AMS specifications. For example, a high modulus fluorosilicone developed by our Technical Director became the basis for the requirements of AMS7273. Our technical team has over 150 years of combined, hands-on experience with all types of elastomers and processes associated with the rubber industry.
Our laboratory is capable of determining the physical, rheological, thermal, and fluid resistance properties of materials per ASTM, military, AMS and other test methods. We can perform standard tests in house, as well as set up specialized custom tests for development projects. We are one of a few labs capable of doing full testing to AMS7273 including the component seal test.
We provide release tests with every lot shipped, and test the physical properties of each batch of compound to assure product consistency, as well as closely monitor blueprint and specification requirements to assure full compliance to customer requirements.
