Chloroprene (neoprene is the generic name) is a polymer of chlorobutadiene. One of the earliest synthetic polymers developed as an oil-resistant substitute for natural rubber. Exhibits generally good ozone, aging, chemical resistance, and mechanical properties.
Chloroprene rubber is typically used as seals recommended for exposure to weathering, good resistance to petroleum oils, ozone, sunlight and oxygen aging. It also has relatively low compression set, good resilience and physical toughness.
